The Bircus experience is one that you can’t really describe until you take a seat in their Ludlow taproom on a busy weekend. The visual stimulus is unlike any other taproom I think that I’ve ever experienced, bringing head to head the joy I feel bellied up to the bar as an adult with the child-like wonderment that only the circus can provide. It’s magic. When they announced that they’d be opening a second location down the road in Covington – I was worried that it was too far off from what has made them special, that they’d lose some of their magic.

Much like I didn’t understand what their Ludlow taproom was going to be like before I first experienced it – I think I misunderstood what their Covington taproom was going to be like, too.

The Taproom Meets The Circus.

Bircus’ Ludlow space is like sitting under the bigtop. It’s big, it’s open, and it’s designed to showcase whatever acts happen to be performing. If you’re looking for a traditional, quiet taproom to grab dinner – it’s not exactly what you’re looking for. This is by design.

Covington? Covington takes things in a completely different direction. It’s smaller, brighter (from windows on both ends of the room) and designed for a nice, calm dinner or drinks.

That’s not to say that the whimsical feeling of Ludlow doesn’t come across in the new taproom, though. They brought in little touches like vintage circus posters to remind you of where their personality comes from.

If anything, one thing that the Covington taproom does for first time Bircus visitors is build curiosity and excitement about visiting the Ludlow space with friends.

The two spaces of Bircus coexist in an easy, ‘not forced’ contrast of each other. Two different sides of the brand’s personality that lie less than three miles apart in Northern Kentucky.

I’ll definitely be sharing a lot more details soon about this new location – so keep your eyes and ears peeled!

Bircus Isn’t Done

The two taprooms aren’t the end of what Bircus has planned for their spaces, though. Paul Miller, the owner and “chief goof-officer” let news of a planned Cincinnati expansion slip while out promoting the new taproom.

Bircus, it seems, is planning a third space on Main Street in the central business district. This third location is in the heart of one of Cincinnati’s most dense focusing of local breweries, further strengthening the downtown area as the place to visit if you want to hang out and experience local beer. I think it’s going to be an excellent addition not just to the Bircus lineup – but to Cincinnati’s lineup of amazing breweries and taprooms.

Time will tell how this third planned space fits into the overall puzzle – but the exciting part is that these guys are certainly not done exploring how the brand can keep evolving and bringing their excitement to more people around Greater Cincinnati.

You should be excited about that. So excited, that you want to own part of Bircus – and in that regard – you’re in luck, too!

Run Away And Join The Circus

Back when Bircus first launched in 2017 they were the first brewery to work with the SEC to provide actual shares of their company in a crowdfunding scenario. Before that moment, you couldn’t invest in a brewery without being an accredited investor.

This new move opened the door for “normal” folks to put their money behind breweries – and actually become part owner of those places in return.

To mark the opening of their Covington taproom, Bircus is opening up a new round of investment – and allowing their die hard fans that weren’t able to get into things before to finally jump on board. For as little as $250 you could become a part owner of the wildest circus/brewery hybrid idea that you’ve ever seen before!
