Northwood Cider Heads South, To Kentucky!

When Northwood Cider first opened its doors in November of 2022, they didn’t leave room for any confusion. They wanted to be Cincinnati’s cidery. Without wasting any time, they started working on not just producing for their fans in their taproom, but on getting cans out onto shelves for cider fans, too.
In April of 2023, they hit that goal and their cans have been a smash hit around Cincinnati ever since.
The Next Move? Kentucky.
It’s no secret that Northern Kentucky is very much a part of Cincinnati, but due to the laws around distribution (especially across state lines), it can be a little more difficult to get your beer on a shelf in Northern Kentucky, even if it’s only a few miles away from where you’re making your products.
The cidery teamed up with Chas. Seligman Distributing to make it all happen.
The distributor will help them get their award-winning ciders (which are made from 100% fresh pressed apples and fresh fruits, botanicals, and spices into 15 different counties in the northern part of the state. You’ll be able to get their product everywhere you find the best craft products in the area.
Headed out the door and across the river first are their ‘1903’, and their ‘Gem’ a dry and a sweet cider respectively. Don’t be surprised if you see that selection grow over time, though. Northwood Cider isn’t showing any signs of slowing down soon!
Why This Matters
Aside from getting their ciders into more hands of more cider fans across the area (which is certainly a great thing), you should also note that owner Darrin Wilson and his business partner are both native Kentuckians. Getting their cider back into their home state is one of those things that just makes you feel good, too.
I’m thrilled to watch this company keep growing, and I think that cider has an important and certainly exciting role within the Cincinnati craft beverage scene!
