Citrus and piney notes burst forth on top of an earthy and spicy rye flavor. As the ice melts away from your cans, meet life head on this spring with a Sprye in hand.
Spring is not usually a time of year that we get excited about seasonal beers… The fall usually hold our attention more. But the spring is home to Sprye from Madtree Brewing Company, a Rye Pale Ale that is truly something to get excited about. This brisk ale is 5% abv and has 40 IBUS, making is very drinkable, but still hoppy enough to excite your tongue if hops are your thing.
I personally love the flavor of Rye in beer, and get extremely disappointed when someone brews a beer with the word Rye in the title that lets me down with Rye flavors, and was so happy to taste the great spicy, bready flavors sitting underneath the piney, and citrusy hop flavors of the Centennial, Chinook and Simcoe hops in this one.
A perfect example of what a Rye Pale Ale should be, and it’s an honor to have this one brewed here in Cincinnati.
