All About Alexandria Brewing Company

It’s hard to fit Alexandria Brewing Company into any particular mold, which is a big part of what makes them special. When they opened their doors in 2018 in the small town of Alexandria, Kentucky (now you know where their name came from), folks weren’t sure how the brewery would be received. As it turns out, the community was eager for a space like theirs to call their own – and the brewery quickly became a favorite local hangout for craft beer fans, and “newbies” alike.

As the brewery kept growing, they opened the idea to a second location, and then spent years paying close attention to each option that came in front of them, searching for the perfect location for this new “outpost” before settling on West Chester for their new space.

Their West Chester Outpost is planned to open in the fall of 2025 and will expand the brewery’s reach to the other side of Greater Cincinnati, but will continue the same personality and soul that they worked hard to build in Kentucky.

What To Expect at Alexandria

The OG Taproom In Alexandria

One of the biggest and coolest parts about the Alexandria taproom space is the separation between the two unique personalities in the taproom. The front feels much more like a restaurant than a brewery, which is fitting because it’s also where the walk-up window for their food partner, Benders Pub Grub, is located. The room is filled with a mixture of high-top and low-top tables, all set up to satisfy groups of all sizes. This side of the taproom is quieter than the other side, perfect for a meal, or a night where you’re looking to relax.

The back part of the taproom is closer to the traditional “taproom model”. It’s open to the brewery if you want to peek at their 5bbl brewhouse. The room is filled with different types of tables in the middle, and the outer edges are where you’ll find video games, pop-a-shot basketball, and a large stage for when they host live music (every single weekend). It’s a little louder in this part of the brewery, and also provides a perfect space if you’re looking to rent out part of the taproom for a private event.

The best of both worlds!

The West Chester Outpost

The West Chester Outpost is not yet open for business, as of the time of writing, so you can expect an update once it is. The space is wide and very open. One side of the room will house plenty of tables for you to hang out with a group of friends and have a couple of pints, while the other side will be where you find the stage for live music, more seating, and the window into Bender’s Pub Grub.

The center of the space features a large wooden bar, a gorgeous centerpiece of the taproom. The end of the bar is set up in a squared-off way that is perfectly designed to encourage conversation while you’re enjoying your beer, a perfect addition for a brewery that values its craft beer community.

Stay tuned, like I said, once the brewery opens this space, I’ll be sharing plenty more about it!

What’s The Beer Like

When I said earlier that it’s hard to fit Alexandria Brewing Company into a specific mold, that certainly applies to their beer as well. While the brewery (at least in my head) is known for its traditional German styles, on any given day, you’ll find people sipping on big Imperial Stouts or hazy NE IPAs just as much as you will a well-crafted slow-pour pilsner

One thing that is certain about the beer at Alexandria, no matter what kind of drinker you are, you’ll find something that you enjoy.
