Tap and screw had a short life in the bigger picture of Cincinnati Craft Beer, as most of our breweries have, still. But these guys definitely made a bit of a splash when they were here. The brewery was the first to call the west side of town home after the big “craft brewery boom” of the 2010s… but it didn’t last.
After announcing plans for a second location in 2016, the brewery sadly announced the closing of its first space in early 2017. They followed the news up with plans for production space and taproom in Madisonville which opened up that summer.
Fate intervened, and some of the business owners in Oakley shut the Oakley brewpub down before it started out of fear of parking struggles. The Madisonville production brewery/taproom operated for about a year before finally closing down for good.
Their equipment was purchased by the new Cincy Brewing Company in Lockland, and their head brewer was hired to run it… so I suppose in some ways they still live on!
