All About Rebel Mettle
Right as the central business district lost its long-time brewery, Rock Bottom, the call of the area for a spot for folks to grab a locally crafted beer was answered by these guys, Rebel Mettle. The brewery was wide open, and bright and prided itself on creating a space in which all are welcome. They opened their doors on 9/12/20, pushed hard through the pandemic – but unfortunately weren’t able to keep things going and were forced to close their doors in June of 2022.
The idea of Rebel Mettle was pretty simple. We are all the same in our differences. There is something about each and every one of us that pushes back on the mainstream, or against what we’re “supposed” to be like. This brewery was about taking those differences, embracing them, and using them to bring us together.
What Was Rebel Mettle Like?
As I mentioned before, the brewery was bright, open, and airy. Walking there was a big bar that sat in front of the brewhouse, which was clearly on display. A second floor overlooked both the bar and the brewery making sure that the focus of the space was clear.
The brewery focused heavily on lagers, with an extremely heavy majority of their beers being bottom fermented… that doesn’t mean that’s all they had, though. They tried to keep a well-rounded tap lineup with several styles to please any drinker who might enter their doors.
