All About Grainworks
Grainworks manages to feel like a down-to-earth brewery, almost like one that your buddies would open. They announced their Grand Opening back in August of 2017, and no one really knew what to expect from the space. Once the doors opened up, we were blessed with a location full of barn wood, and distressed accents that managed to feel genuine, while still having a definite theme.
The brewery operates on a 10bbl brewhouse – and manages to serve its taproom, along with the local area via cans which hit distribution a couple of years after their taproom opened for business.
Once the taproom was able to expand back in 2020, the brewery doubled the size of its space, and added some event rooms and a kitchen, which was filled by Mama Bear’s Mac and Cheese in the fall of 2022.
What’s Grainworks Like?
The folks at Grainworks have done a great job of taking the now standard warehouse brewery space and putting their own twist on it, with a barn look to their bar and a massive mural on the opposite wall. Lights are strung up over the space, giving you the feeling of a backyard party. When they expanded the taproom they leaned heavily on that same idea, and brought the barn facade to the rest of the space, too.
The beer that you’ll find on tap has a lean toward traditional styles, with big flavors and drinkability flirting side by side with each other. The brewery isn’t afraid to play around with the more “trendy” side of craft beer, too – putting out beers that will please any palate the finds its way into their taproom.
